Lil Wayne 'Rebirth' Gets a New Release Date

After being pushed back a few times, production is finally finished on Lil Wayne’s Rebirth album, and it’s ready to hit the stores.

“Expect great music. That’s all I ever want them to expect from me,” Wayne told us after the MTV Movie Awards. “I wanted to grow and show my growth as well,” he added. “It’s a difference from when you go in a room and come out and you’re better and everyone says, ‘How did you do that?’ So with this album, I wanted everyone to see my growing pains.”

“It’s almost like where Outkast was when they made Aquemini,” he continued. “It’s still a rap album, but was it really a rap album compared to all the other rap albums at that time? Andre Benjamin was evolving artistically to where he’s at now — Wayne is doing the same thing, and he’s not afraid to show you his growth. It’s one thing we respect about him, and we feel it’s something that everybody else should respect about him … he shows no fear. To put himself out there, you’re watching someone as they progress in their career.”

Rebirth is slated for release August 18.

black eyed peas

With the release of their fifth studio album right around the corner, California-based group The Black Eyed Peas have announced that they will be teaming up with Target for a special edition of their new album The E.N.D.

The deluxe edition of The E.N.D., which is an acronym for The Energy Never Dies, will be available exclusively at Target and Target.com on June 9.

“Working with Target to provide this deluxe version of our new album has allowed us to do something special for our fans after years of support,” will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas explained in a statement. “We were really excited to get back into the studio to record the new songs, plus remix some of our favorite tunes for Target, and hope everyone enjoys this exclusive version. Remember The Energy Never Dies and this is only the beginning.”

The special deluxe version of The Black Eyed Peas album will include four exclusive songs, six exclusive remixed hits, and exclusive video content.

“We are excited to add The Black Eyed Peas to a tremendous line up of music’s biggest and brightest stars who have partnered exclusively with Target,” said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, merchandising, Target. “Offering the deluxe version of The E.N.D. provides our guests with special content that can only be found at Target.”

The original version of The E.N.D. will also be released in stores and online on June 9. Aside from releasing their fifth album this summer, The Black Eyed Peas will also be performing in Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and more in the near future.

Black Eyed Peas Interview: Peas Punch Back With Fifth Album

Black Eyed Peas

VIA: joongangdaily.com

‘The E.N.D.’ is just the beginning of a BEP revival

The Black Eyed Peas believes that “the energy never dies,” which explains the title of their new album, “The E.N.D.” Judging from how fans obsessively embraced previous Peas’ hits like “My Humps,” “Don’t Phunk with My Heart,” “Let’s Get It Started” and “Where is the Love?,” the music world certainly hopes so.

The Black Eyed Peas releases its fifth studio album on June 9. The album’s lead single, “Boom Boom Pow,” which came out in February, has already hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, becoming the band’s first song to top the chart. Boom Boom Pow is an energetic dance-pop and hip-hop song in line with the Peas’ signature style. In an interview with the JoongAng Daily, the band says it hopes the album’s hard beats won’t stop people from going out and having fun Peas-style.

Here are some excerpts from the interview.

Q. It took four years for your latest album The E.N.D. to come out following the release of your previous studio album “Monkey Business.” What took so long and how does The E.N.D. differ from your previous albums?

A. We’ve been doing a lot of stuff such as touring: It took one and a half years of touring, campaigning, movies, Fergie’s solo album, Will.i.am’s solo album and a bunch of stuff.

The E.N.D. is more like going out - going out to clubs and having fun. The beats are heavier. We tried to compete with what’s going on now so the album became trendier and it’s full of electronic music.

Boom Boom Pow is already topping the charts. What was the inspiration for the song? As the producers of that song, how do you want people to listen to it?

The inspiration comes from going out, going out to clubs every day, and trying to keep up with this guy [Apl.de.ap], spreading some electro music. That’s the whole energy and drive.

We hope people like the song and the song will really make people want to go out and have some fun. I can’t wait to go to clubs and hear it. And I can’t wait for people to know it.

It’s been more than a decade since your debut album. How has the band evolved over the years?

I think we’ve evolved as song writers, producers, performers and just as people in general. We keep inspiring each other, too. Also, travelling all over the world has made us what we are now, seeing different cultures, peoples and genres. We are not just caught up in this bubble.

Monkey Business was such a success, selling over 9 million copies and clinching two Grammy Awards. Was there any pressure to keep up with that level?

Not really. [It was] just fun. But the pressure was to make beats hard enough for clubs, not to keep up with the same level of success in the last album.
